The Korg MPS-10 Drum, Percussion and Sampler Pad is a powerful multi-pad instrument that combines high-quality drum and percussion sounds with versatile sampling and performance features. Designed for drummers, percussionists, and producers, it features 10 dynamic pads that respond with exceptional sensitivity, making it ideal for expressive live playing and studio production. The MPS-10 comes loaded with over 2,350 onboard sounds including acoustic drums, electronic kits, world percussion, and melodic tones, while also offering 32-note polyphony for natural layering and realistic performance.

With 4 sample pads and extensive import options, you can load and trigger your own sounds, loops, or backing tracks directly from a USB drive. Its powerful effects engine allows real-time customization with reverb, delay, compression, and modulation, while assignable footswitch and trigger inputs expand your playing possibilities. The built-in looping functionality makes it a versatile tool for live looping, practice, and creative songwriting.

Whether used as a standalone electronic drum pad, a sampler for live performance, or a studio production tool, the Korg MPS-10 offers drummers and musicians the freedom to explore endless sounds with intuitive controls and rugged build quality, making it an essential addition to any modern setup.

What Is the Korg MPS-10

The Korg MPS-10 is a high-end multi-pad drum / percussion / sampler unit. Think of it as a groove workstation / sample pad controller designed for drummers, live performers, electronic musicians, and producers. It aims to combine expressive pad playing, sampling, looping, and live effects control all in one compact unit.

It was introduced around 2023-2024. It competes with other pad/workstations like the Roland SPD-SX line, but with distinct features (particularly its CC pads, built-in looper, high memory, etc.).

Redefine the beat: your control, your performance.

The MPS-10 is the next step in the constant evolution of drum performance and musical expression. Meticulously crafted to be both rugged and refined, MPS-10 meets the diverse demands of drummers and percussionists everywhere, opening the door to new and creative ways of performing never previously possible.

Immerse yourself in a world of sonic possibilities with its 10 pads, thanks to a preloaded sound source that defies expectations, a versatile sampler, 4 groundbreaking CC pads, and a cutting-edge 4-track looper – all seamlessly integrated into a singular, comprehensive kit. Enhance your performance through an external trigger IN jack, footswitch compatibility, and an expression jack.

How It Works / Use

Here’s how one might typically use the MPS-10, and what makes it special:
  • Kits & Performance: You can load a “kit” which assigns sounds to the 10 pads + external trigger pads + expression pedal. A kit could be used live as your “drum/percussion rig” for a song. You can switch kits (100 factory + 100 user) seamlessly. There's also a Set List function so you can order which kits are recalled in what order (useful in live performance).
  • CC Pad Functionality: The top 4 CC pads are more than just sound pads. They detect *where* you strike them (position sensitivity), and this can be mapped to effect parameters (filter, note delay, MFX, etc.). This gives expressive control (e.g. sweeping a filter by sliding across pad, or different timbres depending on where you hit).
  • Sampler / External Inputs: You can sample your own sounds either from the internal sample engine or through external inputs (line / mic). Then you can edit the samples (trim, assign to blocks, etc.), map them across pads, use them in kits. You can also import sample files via USB.
  • Looper / Live Looping: Built-in 4-track looper means you can build layered parts live: record one track (pad performance / external input), add overdubs, etc. Good for performance or compositional work. Also, looper tracks have their own effects. You can export individual tracks as WAV files for further production.
  • Effects / Signal Flow: Effects are integrated: master reverb, filters, insert FX per pad or per kit, etc. Also the CC pads help manipulate effects live. Very useful for adding dynamics and variation during performance.
  • Live / Stage Utility: With audio outs, sub-outs, trigger ins, footswitch/expression etc., you can integrate this into a drum setup (as a supplement to acoustic drums or electronic pads), use external triggers or pads, or use it standalone. Set List mode helps for switching between songs. SST (Smooth Sound Transition) feature ensures switching kits doesn’t make unwanted artifacts when a sample/cymbal is still ringing.

Use Cases / Ideal For

Here are who or what the MPS-10 is especially well suited for:
  • Drummers who want an electronic pad to augment their acoustic kit (or replace some parts during silent practice or small stages).
  • Live musicians who loop, trigger samples, and want dynamic control (filter sweeps, effect changes) live.
  • Producers / composers who want a pad-based sampler / looper for sketching ideas, sample manipulation, etc.
  • Electronic / hybrid performers who need a versatile performance device (effects, connectivity, CC control).
  • Percussionists exploring world percussion, SFX, experimental sounds, layering, etc.
